Bugatti Veyron

Bugatti Veyron

With the release of the Veyron, Italian car manufacturer Bugatti digs up some interesting facts from its history. Probably not many people remember Pierre Veyron, who won the 1939 Le Mans race driving an early Bugatti model. The Veyron pays homage to the champion, or maybe it should be the other way round. After all, the Bugatii Veyron is the second fastest car in the world, no small feat in the 21th century.

The Veyron comes with an almost futuristically aerodynamic design, but this is not the secret that makes the car so fast. The Bugatti's W16 engine equipped with 16 cylinders in 4 banks of 4 cylinders fed by four turbochargers is the car’s real piece de resistance. This supercar can reach 300 km/h in little over 16 seconds, snatching the title of "fastest accelerating car in history". The Veyron can reach up to incredible speeds like 400 km/h, but this kind of performance will obviously take a toll on the car's gas consumption. The Veyron is a super engine molded into the shape of a car, rather than simply a car. The car's designers had the time of a day trying to come up with a shape that is sufficiently aerodynamic to keep such a fast car grounded to the road.

The Bugatti Veyron uses tires custom made by Michelin using a special system. The tires can run flat for over 125 miles and their pressure is constantly monitored. The manufactures did not neglect the interiors either. The Veyron might sit only two people, but they will be lavished with the utmost luxury. In other words, the Bugatti Veyron is as good as it gets in matters of speed, design and comfort.
