Dodge Challenger

Dodge Challenger is one third of the American
holy-trinity of muscle cars, alongside the Mustang and the Camaro. The
third generation Challenger debuted in 2008, and hit the markets after
its huge success at the 2008 Chicago Auto Show.
The 2009 Dodge Challenger line for 2009 comprises four different trims:
the SE, R/T, SRT8, and SXT (available only in Canada). While the Challenger
SE comes with a 3.5-liter V6, the Dodge Challenger R/T is powered by a
5.7-liter V8 engine with 370 hp with a five-speed automatic gearbox. The
V8 engine belts out 398 lb-ft of torque (404 lb-ft with manual), and the
Challenger R/T can do 0 to 60 mph in under six seconds. This sort of power
does not come cheap. The 2010 model of the Challenger will be even more
expensive then the 2009 edition.
Air conditioning, power windows, locks and mirrors, cruise control, leather
upholstery, heated front seats and sunroof are among the standard features
of the Dodge Challenger. Disappointingly, despite all the features, the
interior does not rise the expectations and it looks rather drab. But
one of the car’s most attractive points is the retro muscle car
design that combines “the classic looks and tire-shredding power
of the 1970s original with modern-day sophistication”. Dodge even
designed a drag race version of the Challenger. The racing car weight
1000 pounds less than the road version, and several components were redesigned
using lightweight materials. This model was specially designed for the
NHRA competition.
All in all, the Challenger is a right-on gas guzzler, but more importantly,
it is fun to drive.
