Porsche Carrera GT

Porsche Carrera GT

Porsche Carrera GT is not a cheap car, but then again, it’s a Porsche. It's fast, it's gorgeous and it's modern, a race car in the groove of a convertible. The Carrera GT comes with a 7 liter V10 engine producing 612 DIN (605 SAE) horsepower (450 kW) and the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h (62.5 mph) in 3.9 seconds, touching a maximum speed of 330 km/h (205 mph). The engine is cooled with the help of large side inlets and air dams and it is encased by a carbon fiber rear hood.

Not that you could tell from the way it looks like. The Porsche Carrera GT is a model of modesty, with its impressive engine mounted much lower in chassis then in any other similar car. The center of gravity is thus considerably lowered, improving the car’s aerodynamics and implicitly its speed. The car comes in five colour schemes: Guards Red, Fayence Yellow, Basalt Black, GT Silver and Seal Grey, with custom colours available for those who can afford it.

The Carrera’s interior is optimized for maximum comfort. The seats are covered with soft leather and there’s more hi-tech crammed into the cockpit than on a space station. The interior is designed to be as practical as possible, but the atmosphere is by no means austere, partly thanks to the Bose audio system that can be chosen as an optional component.

All in all, the Porsche Carrera GT is a thoroughbred racecar despite what its engineers might want us to believe. It isn't an easy car to drive, and it takes some guts to master such as powerful monster, but that's the least you can expect from this masterpiece of engineering.
